Running Accomplishments:

I can't say that I run for a certain time or actually 'race'. I'm content with an average time for a long run. Frankly, I'm just happy to finish it and not stop when I get bored.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Short term, I'd like to consistently add mileage on a regular basis, as well as improve my form.

Long-Term Running Goals:

My ultimate goal is to run at least a half marathon by two years time, if not a full marathon. Boredum and shin splints seems to be my problem.

Personal:

I'm applying to medical school while working at a very stressful job. Running is my release, clears my head.

The last couple of days I have chickened out and walked for three miles with a girlfriend of mine instead of running. The fear of painful shins got to me; however last night I decided to take the advice of the bloggers, did some specific stretches, loosened up, slowed down during my run when my legs started to feel tight, and did a lot of stretching and icing when I was done. THANKFULLY!! It worked and I felt so incredibly great. Walking for hours doesn't come close to making me feel like I do when I haul butt on a run. It wasn't the distance or the time I was going for, but at this point I'm so excited I was just able to run without pain during or after. So thanks! I just need to keep myself focused and not push it too much too fast. I'm going to start swimming laps as well to help out.
