The last couple of days I have chickened out and walked for three miles with a girlfriend of mine instead of running. The fear of painful shins got to me; however last night I decided to take the advice of the bloggers, did some specific stretches, loosened up, slowed down during my run when my legs started to feel tight, and did a lot of stretching and icing when I was done. THANKFULLY!! It worked and I felt so incredibly great. Walking for hours doesn't come close to making me feel like I do when I haul butt on a run. It wasn't the distance or the time I was going for, but at this point I'm so excited I was just able to run without pain during or after. So thanks! I just need to keep myself focused and not push it too much too fast. I'm going to start swimming laps as well to help out. |
